DM PLANT OPTIMISATION

CONDENSATE RECOVERY: In synthesis of ammonia and urea,Process condensate is produced in huge quantities and It contains some impurities. This process condensate is treated to remove the contaminants in Mixed Beds and Guard Bed unit ( similar to MB as described earlier) and stored in the DM water storage tanks. In normal operation of the plant about 90 to 135 cubic metres of condensate is expected to be recovered in each stream. In case incoming process condensate goes beyond limits (design quality) like conductivity more than 75 micro mhos or ammonia (as analysed in laboratory) more than 17 ppm there is a provision to divert it to effluent treatment plant directly. There are 3 streams, each stream consists of an activated carbon filter and mixed bed .Two guard beds are common to all 3 streams.
The prime movers of major critical equipment are condensing turbines. These condensate along with recovery from steam traps, called Turbine Condensate undergo treatment quite similar to process condensate. There are 3 streams, each stream consists of an activated carbon filter and mixed bed . In normal operation of plant about 190 cubic metres of turbine condensate is expected to be recovered in each stream. In case of quality of incoming turbine condensate is deteriorating , there is a provision to reject the individual stream from recovery.
