Here is some progress on the Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) as of January 2025:
Transmission lines: 10,273 kilometers of new transmission lines of 220 kV or above were added in 2024.
Transformation capacity: 71,197 MVA of transformation capacity of 220 kV or above was added in 2024.
Renewable energy capacity: 280 GW of renewable energy capacity will be connected to the ISTS network by 2032.
Land acquisition: 300 acres of land was acquired at Pang.
HVDC tender: The HVDC tender was published and awards are expected by March 2025.
LIDAR survey: A LIDAR survey was initiated for transmission lines.
The National Electricity Plan (NEP) was finalized in 2024 with an outlay of Rs. 9.15 trillion. The NEP aims to create an interstate and intrastate grid to facilitate evacuation of 458 GW by 2032.
