Environment Ministry (MOEF) given clearance to Nagarjuna Fertilizes (NFCL) urea expansion phase III


Hyderabad based Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (NFCL) plans its III phase urea expansion with an investment of Rs 4,314 crore and applied for an environment clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF). The expert committee for appraisal of chemical projects of MOEF has iven clearance to Nagarjuna Fertilizes (NFCL) for the same.

At its last meeting, the expert committee expressed satisfaction over Nagarjuna Fertilizes (NFCL)’s assessment of different risks including the ones posed by probable Tsunami and ammonia leakage from the storage tanks under different scenarios. The committee also specified incorporation of terms and conditions in the environmental clearance to be issued to the company.

Nagarjuna Fertilizers (NFCL)’s III phase urea expansion includes a new ammonia unit with a capacity of 2200 tonnes per day (tpd) and a new urea unit with a capacity of 3860 tonnes per day (tpd).
