The Coastal cleanup day is jointly organised by the Indian Coast Guard, AP Pollution control Board, NFCL , ONGC, Reliance, KSPL and Coromandel fertilizer



East Godavari District Collector Neethu Kumary today said that the Kakinada beach would be given a face lift by providing lighting, benches, canteen and other facilities soon.
Participating as the chief guest at the World Coastal Cleanup Day celebrations function at the Vakalapudi Beach, she said the state Tourism department had sanctioned Rs three lakh for improving facilities at the beach.
The Collector said the world tourism day will be celebrated by holding a special function at the beach on September 7. Arrangements were also being made such as opening of various stalls and staging of cultural programmes to mark the event. Plans were also underway to conduct the beach festival for three days from November 30 she said and added that public should take it as a responsibility to keep the beach clean and free from pollution. As many as 700 students including NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and people from various walks of life took part in the coastal cleanup programme by cleaning the beach clearing the weeds, waste papers and put them in dust bins.
