Case Study in a Urea Plant:
Can the Development of a Material be Only Associated to the Corrosion Issue?

Global completion on nitrogen fertilizer business requires a largescaled and high performance urea plants. Performance of a urea plant such as productivity, operability, and maintenance through its life-cycle is closely related with material to be used because of intense corrosiveness in urea plants. When materials for a urea plant are selected, corrosion-resistance      and mechanical property should be   considered. Economics enter every business decision and the costs get deep consideration. But, the important criteria should not be the initial cost of a material. Its life-cycle cost or cost effectiveness should govern instead.
