These developing and emerging countries have been growing at a faster clip in comparison to developed countries and are therefore capturing a higher share of world GDP. In view of the deepening of economic crisis the world today looks towards these economies for global economic recovery. It has been apparent over the last few years that the developing and emerging countries are fast emerging as new growth poles of the world. If these trends continue, the GDP of emerging market economies is likely to outweigh that of developed economies within the next decade. The global financial crisis has been further accelerating this process. What would be the role of developed nations in this new emerging world economic order? What would be the new contour and model of North-South economic cooperation?
1715-1830 hrsPlenary Session 3 : "South Asia Economic Integration: On a New Path of Progress and Hope"

South Asia is perhaps the only region of the world which exhibits very contrasting features. A fastest growing region but home to the world's largest concentration of poor people. While, the region's trade with rest of the world is growing, the intra-SAARC trade is merely 5% of their total trade. However, last few years witnessed some encouraging developments that include implementation of SAFTA, India-Pakistan trade dialogue and the growing interest of private sector in the regional market. Will these positive developments lead to greater economic integration in the region?

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations were launched by leaders from ASEAN and ASEAN's FTA partners at Cambodia in November 2012. RCEP is an ASEAN-centered proposal, which would initially include the ten ASEAN member states and those countries which have existing FTAs with ASEAN. This would lead to the creation of an integrated market with a combined market of over 3 billion people and a combined GDP of about US$19.78 trillion.
1100-1215 hrsPlenary Session 5 : "Rapidly Emerging Global Value Chains: Where Do Developing Economies Fit In?"

The emergence of "global value chain" has accelerated the process of globalisation and integration of global economy. For long companies of developed nations have increased their efficiencies and competitiveness by resorting to creating value chain across countries. The successful EU integration could be possible because of creation of regional value chain. Can developing nations too get integrated into the global value chain? How far FTAs can help developing nations to create this value chain across the region?

The world is witnessing an unprecedented transformation in global economic governance. The global institutions created since the World War-II are facing new challenges. The G-20 was created to supplant the G-7/8 so that the voice of emerging economies could be included in coordinating a response to the global crisis. What role the G-20 would play in reforming the architecture of global governance? How can emerging countries play a more effective role in global economic governance?
1545-1700 hrsPlenary Session 7 : "India and Africa: Redefining Partnerships in the 21st Century"

Africa has emerged as one of the fastest growing regions of the world. The region's growth rebounded from the global downturn. However, the challenge remains to make this growth sustainable as the continent faces the risks posed by Euro-zone crisis - which threaten to constrain growth by hitting demand for African exports, and limiting FDI and overseas aid. In view of this what new approach Africa requires, particularly diversifying its market and source of investment by forging economic partnership with countries of the South?
1700-1815 hrsClosing Session : "Business, Sustainability & Innovation"

Emerging economies have the opportunity to leapfrog to sustainable way of doing business. What are the innovations in sustainability that are emerging from developing nations?
