Liquid Oxygen Solid Acetylene Explosion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXWZXXWu3AM
Liquid oxygen was made by forcing oxygen into a beryl pipette from a tank while submerged in liquid nitrogen. The blue liquid oxygen filled up 2/3 of the volume of the bulb. The last 1/3 was filled with acetylene also introduced from a tank -- an approximation of the 2/5 acetylene to oxygen ideal explosive ratio. The acetylene appears as powdered white snow that made a slush with the liquid oxygen. The top of the pipette was cut off and the pipette bulb filled with slush was clamped in a test tube clamp and remotely ignited with a fireworks professional e-match. Both the blast shield and test tube camp were destroyed in this test. Do not try this at home!
