Required PPE for Entering Urea Plant

I would like you to share your plant's safety policy for what personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for entering your urea plant.
Hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, FR (Nomex) coveralls, etc.
Does each person carry an ammonia escape respirator or hood? If so, which type. Is your plant inside a building?

Thank you

Hi Alex,
The required PPE is often determined by a risk assessment and PPE is the last line of defense.
For working in a chemical plant (ammonia/ urea) industrial standard would be hard head, safety shoes, safety glasses, full covering of body with fire resistant/no sparking/ chemicals repulsive clothing.
Use of Escape mask is risk based and is not standardized. For ammonia leaks in combination with early detection a personal escape mask is not needed, and escape mask stationed in the plant would be ok.
For escape masks full face coverage is advised as ammonia will affect the eyes making escape difficult.

Hi Majid

What do you mean with early detection ?
You mean the ammonia detectors in the plant ?

Hi,

while you are going to field just be aware of wind direction and how you would escape in case of emergancy , i don't mean you should take 10 minutes thinking about it. Make it your practice. As PPE's is the last line of defence always be ready.

For Granulation section I think using dust mask is from minimum PPE to work there. It is just an opinion

I am interested to hear which plants prescribe to take a gas mask with you when entering the urea plant.
