ENVIRONMENT, FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGEbe pleased to state:-

(a) whether industries are not being set up in the country due to the stringent laws relating to environment and forests for setting up of industries;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the corrective measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) No, Sir.

(c) The Government has taken several steps for expeditious grant of clearances, which, inter alia, include:-

• launching of Single-Window Integrated Environmental Management System named PARIVESH (Pro-Active and Responsive facilitation by Interactive, Virtuous and Environmental Single-window Hub) for complete online, expeditious and transparent system for environment, forest, wildlife and CRZ clearances in the country;
• adoption of standard Terms of Reference;
• flexibility in collection of baseline data;
• formulation of standard environmental clearance conditions;
• delegation of more number of projects or activities to state level authorities and regional authorities;
• alert through SMS to the project proponents;
• re-engineering / modification several business processes for ease of citizens and project proponents;
• special dispensation for the projects of national importance and for projects related to defence and country’s security;
• notification of procedure to appraise / approve projects which started / expanded without prior EC, as a onetime measure; etc.
