With the burgeoning number of coronavirus cases worldwide, there is only one question in everyone's mind and that is "how to reduce the risk of infection". No medicine or vaccine can ensure that you won't be infected with the virus. Practising social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene seems to be the only way to stay safe. But there is one more thing that can reduce your risk of infection- a strong immunity. Having a strong immune system at a time when the pandemic is engulfing the world can help your body fight the foreign pathogens and prevent COVID-19 infection. A strong immune system is the first line of defence against harmful pathogens and can only be achieved by consuming a healthy diet.
In the wake of the prevailing situation in the country, recently, the AYUSH Ministry has issued some self-care measures that can help to boost your immunity, which also consists of Herbal tea or kadha.

The Tulsi kadha

Here is how you can prepare this tea:
Ingredients: 4-5 Tulsi leaves,
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon powder,
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper powder,
1 inch Ginger,
3-4 Munakka (Raisin)
Directions: Take a deep pan and add two glasses of water in it. Now add tulsi, cinnamon powder, black pepper, ginger and raisin in it. Stir the mixture and let it boil properly for 15 minutes. Put the stove off and let the mixture cool down for a while. Then strain it in a glass with the help of a strainer. Your immunity booster concoction is ready. You can also add a small piece of jaggery or a dash of lemon juice in it for improving its taste.

How this concoction helps

This drink can help to improve your digestion and flush out toxins from the body. Black pepper acts as an expectorant, while tulsi, ginger and cinnamon exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. Tulsi also has anti-microbial properties that help to beat the infection leading to respiratory problems. Having this mixture two times a day can boost your immune system and protect you from harmful disease. You can also take this kadha when down with cold or flu.
