Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Russia is facing another huge devastation after a fuel tank collapsed at a power plant in Norilsk. Over 20,000 tons of diesel leaked into the Arctic circle turning the Ambarnaya River crimson red.
President Vladimir V. Putin has declared a state of emergency in northern Siberia following the major oil spill. The accident is considered to be one of the gravest and worst oil spills in the history of the country.

There was another oil spill in Russia on May 29th. 20,000 tons of oil spilled into the Artic Circle due to a collapsed storage tank. Russia declared a state of emergency yesterday following the spill. My heart is heavy.

The fuel spilled Friday from a tank at a power plant storage facility in an outlying section of Norilsk, about 1,800 miles northeast of Moscow.

The accident happened after one of the pillars of a tank at the plant collapse spilling the oil up to seven miles from the site of the accident. Experts say that the oil spill will have severe effects on the environment and ecosystem in the Arctic circle.
