World Environment Day turns 40

World Environment Day turns 40

Believe it or not, World Environment Day turns 40 in 2012. Since the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) was formed in 1972, World Environment Day has been celebrated annually. In 2012, World Environment Day will be looking back at some of the notable previous celebrations and themes.
This is going to be an exciting year and we’d like to invite you to celebrate with us. We’re keen to gather photos, videos and stories that mark key events, negotiations and experiences related to UNEP in the last four decades.
Where were you in 1972? If that’s too far back then tell us where you were in '82, ’92 or 2002 and also where you want the world to be in 2012.
We plan to publish a ‘milestones’ book on key environmental achievements over the four decades and so share your memories and they could be featured in it.
Start your own celebrations for  World Environment Day and UNEP’s 40th Anniversary! In addition to the World Environment Day logo, you may download the UNEP 40th Anniversary logo and style guide to use in developing your own information materials.
