To ensure a development process is “sustainable” the essential requisites includes “Five Rs.”

To ensure a development process is “sustainable” the essential requisites includes “Five Rs.”

― Resistance: The process of development must be resistant to degradation and generate economic growth equitably, not only intra-generational but also inter-generational, by keeping future generations in mind.

― Resilience: The process should have flexibility to adapt and ensure the least degradation of the environment.

― Regeneration: The development process should have the capacity to regenerate natural resources consumed during its implementation so that the net effect on the environment is minimized.

― Redesign: The development process should evolve after a design-feedback-redesign cycle so as to ensure that the goals of sustainability are adequately addressed.

― Replenishment: The process should attempt to replenish natural capital rather than destroy it.

Physical (non-living) and biological (living) environments are two sides of the same coin (the human environment) and both interact with each other.

A change in the physical environment brings a change in the biological environment and vice-versa. The environment is affected by many factors and affects living beings.
