Monsoon Watch
- The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, Marathwada and Vidarbha, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, some parts of southwest Madhya Pradesh and some more parts of East Madhya Pradesh.
- The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat. 20.0°N/ Long. 60.0°E, Lat. 20.0°N/ Long.70.0°E, Dahanu, Malegaon, Pachmarhi, Jabalpur, Sidhi, Patna and Raxaul.
- Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some parts of north Arabian Sea, south Gujarat region, remaining parts of Madhya Maharashtra, some more parts of Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh and remaining parts of Bihar during next 48 hours.

- Yesterday, heat wave observed at isolated places over West Rajasthan.
- Thunderstorm observed at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, north Tamilnadu and Lakshadweep from 0830 hours IST to 0830 hours IST of today.
- Rain/ snow occurred at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Rain occurred at most places over Assam & Meghalaya, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at many places over West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Telangana and East Madhya Pradesh; at a few places over East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and at isolated places over Chhattisgarh and Gujarat region.
- On 20.06.2016: Minimum temperature are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan and Gujarat region; at a few places over Punjab and East Rajasthan; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam & Meghalaya and Saurashtra & Kutch and at a few places over Bihar and Jharkhand. They are appreciably below normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh; below normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra & Rayalaseema and near normal over rest of the country.
- On 19.06.2016: Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1 to 5.0°C) at many places over West Rajasthan; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir; above normal (1.6 to 3.0°C) at a few places over south Gujarat; at isolated places over East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Kerala & south Assam. They were markedly below normal (5.1°C or less) at a few places over Telangana; appreciably below normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over East Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh; below normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Odisha; at many places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh and near normal over rest parts of the country.
- The highest maximum temperature of 45.5°C recorded at Bikaner & Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) in the country.
- 20 June (Day1): No heat wave warning. Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Coastal Karnataka; heavy rain at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Bihar, Konkan & Goa and Kerala. Thunderstorm accompanied with squall very likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
- 21 June (Day 2): No heat wave warning. Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya with extremely heavy at isolated places; heavy to very heavy at isolated places over north Bihar & Arunachal Pradesh; heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Thunderstorm accompanied with squall very likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan.
- 22 June (Day 3): No heat wave warning. Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim with extremely heavy at isolated places; heavy to very heavy at isolated places over north Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya and Kerala; heavy at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka.
- 23 June (Day 4): No heat wave warning. Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala; at heavy at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Konkan & Goa.
- 24 June (Day 5): No heat wave warning. Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa and Kerala; heavy at isolated places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, north Bihar and North Interior Karnataka.
- The weather outlook for the period of seven days i.e. 20 to 27 June 2016 forecasted (Provided by Real-Time Weather Forecasts from NOAA/NCEP collected from http://monsoondata.org/wx2/) rain/thundershower would occur over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, North Interior Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and North Eastern States. Andhra Pradesh
Weather condition:
Light rainfall received in Andhra Pradesh state during past few days. The maximum temperatures ranged from 28.6 to 38.8°C in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and 30.0 to 39.1°C in Rayalaseema region. Minimum temperatures ranged from 18.0 to 29.1 °C in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and 22.0 to 28.9°C in Rayalaseema region.
Contingency measure:
- Due to receipt of recent rainfalls the following crops and varieties are recommended for sowing: Green manure crops. The green manure crops and seed rate suggested are: Sun hemp 24 kg per acre 2. Dhaiancha 12-14 kg per acre. Pillipesaraa 6-8 kg per acre. Greengram 14-16 kgs per acre.
- Paddy: Collect suitable and good quality seed materials from reputed firms/ farmer friends. Varieties suitable are BPT-5204, Swarna mukhi,, molakolukulu , NLR-T-145, Savitri and Bavapuri sannaalu.
- Maize: Remove the crop stubbles, clean the field, suggested verities for the district are DCH-111, DCH-113, DCH-115, Madhuri & Priya (sweet corn varieties). Collect the good seed material from University or any recognized firm well in advance
- Red gram: Farmers are advised to go for Red gram sowing. It can be sown as Inter crop or as also a main crop. Recommended Varities: LRG-41, PRG-158, PRG-176, Lakshmi, and Asha. Spacing: For Light Red soils 90 X 20 cm and for Black soils 180 X 20 cm. Farm Yard Manure can be applied @ 2 tones/ acre At the time sowing 8kgs of Nitrogen (17.3 kgs Urea) and 20 kgs of Phosphorus (125kgs of SSP).
- Bajra: Recommended verities: P.H.B-3, I.C.M.H-356, Dhanashakthi. ? Spacing: 45 X 12-15 cm. At the time of sowing 30-30-20 of Nitrogen, phosphorous and potash respectively as a basal and 30 DAS 12 kgs/acre of Nitrogen should be applied.
- Korra: Recommended Verities: Prasad, SIA-3085, krishnadevaraya, Surya nandi, Narasimharaya, srilakshmi and SIA 3156. Spacing: 22.5 X 7.5 cm. At the time sowing 8kgs of Nitrogen and 8 kgs of Phosphorus and after 2 -3 weeks of sowing 8kgs of Nitrogen should be applied.
- Castor: For High yielding varieties 2-2.5 kgs/acre and for normal varieties-2 kgs. Recommended varieties: PCH-111, PCH-222, Haritha, Kiran. Seed treatment with the Thiaram or Captan @ 3g/ kg seed.
