Earth Hour 2015 Comes to An End! Now, watch the highlights.
It's just after 9.30pm in the Cook Islands and Tahiti, which means that Earth Hour 2015 has come to an end! We've concluded another incredible year of Earth Hour, and we'd like to thank each and every single one of you for participating. This year, we had an unprecedented 172 countries and territories taking part in the biggest celebration of the planet in the world! Remember, an hour in the dark is only the beginning. Empowering Fiji With The Power of the Crowd
Earth Hour Fiji was all about empowerment. It was celebrated through empowering the communities of Mali Island and providing them with continuous access to clean drinking water. In this way, islanders of Mali, north of Vanua Levu, can become resilient against the impacts of climate change. They can also bring to life the spirit of "going beyond the hour" and harnessing the power of the crowd.  Fundraising platforms used in this campaign are two-tiered. Corporates were invited to raise funds within organisations, adding on to proceeds from a special fundraiser “Earth Hour Candle Light Dinner” on the night itself. The dinner had the President of Fiji, Mr. Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, as the Guest of Honour.

SOS for the Adriatic Sea in Croatia! 
WWF Adria worked with other NGOs to use Earth Hour as a platform to support the #soszajadran campaign (SOS for Adriatic sea). The campaign draws attention to oil and gas exploration in the Adriatic. 45 cities switched off in Croatia, with many landmarks and 2 UNESCO heritage sites shutting off their lights too!

Romania Lights Up the Dark 
The main Earth Hour event in Bucharest, Romania, took place in the popular park, Herastrău, with a crowd of over 7,000. Keeping with their theme of sharing their energy with nature and generating energy with exercise, Earth Hour Romania ambassador Zoli Toth and fitness coaches led members of the public on various workouts and treated them with a spectacular drum and fire show.

Glasgow Goes Dark!
The center of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, was a part of Earth Hour with the City Chambers switching off! An Earth Hour projection was also being screened, and a pedal-powered cinema being opened and lots of other public activities taking place. Throughout the hour, there were also community and council-led events taking place all across the country including night golf, ghost walks, stargazing, candlelit dinners & concerts, cycle rides, church services and film screenings! Looks like it was an eventful night in Glasgow. Were you a part of the fun? ;)

Earth Hour in Macedonia (FYROM)! 
Earth Hour in Macedonia (FYROM) was celebrated in a number of locations, with events catering to each location organised by Red Cross volunteers. The biggest event on the night will be a flash mob "in the dark" with glowing effects on the Macedonia Square, Skopje. Apart from Skopje, other cities, landmarks, and 3 UNESCO landmarks were expected to go dark in the city of Ohrid.

Groundbreaking Sustainability Bill Passed in Wales, UK
WWF Cymru (UK-Wales) celebrates Earth Hour 2015 in more ways than one! After three years of working with the Sustainable Development Alliance, the "Well-being of Future Generations Bill" was passed. The ground-breaking sustainability law was put in place less than a week before Earth Hour. Congrats to the team for their success after all their hard work. :)

Powering up the Planet in Spain
Earth Hour Spain was celebrated in various cities, centered on the main event in Oriente Square in Madrid. The event involved a cycling competition with bicycles powering renewable energy. Before the hour itself, a massive Zumba dance class engaged participants in a dance for the planet. About 200 cities across Spain celebrated the hour this year, including Barcelona, Sevilla and Bilbao.

Shadow Puppets in Cambodia 
With more than 60% of Cambodia’s population under 30 years old, Earth Hour Cambodia is focusing on the power of the youths to raise awareness on climate change and encourage Cambodians to play an active role in environmental protection in the Kingdom. Two of Cambodia most popular celebrities, Chornn Sovannareach and Meas Soksophea, gathered with youths at a university campus (Royal University of Phnom Penh) for the lights-out, music performances, and educational role-playing and traditional shadow puppet acts.

Going the Distance with Earth Hour Malaysia
Several events happened in Malaysia for Earth Hour, including Earth Hour Night Walks around Georgetown (UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Penang, and in Sunway Selangor, where purchase of the walk packs (which includes special Earth Hour Night Walk T-shirts) and other merchandise will go towards funding WWF-Malaysia’s conservation efforts. Chinese celebrity Li Bingbing addresses the crowd at Earth Hour China's main event in Beijing. The event was held at Beijing's Capital Museum, which is partially powered by solar panels. She was joined by other celebrity speakers who spoke about China's pressing environmental issues.

India Unplugged in New Delhi! 
“India Unplugged”, a Renewable Energy Green Fair in New Delhi, will set the stage for Earth Hour India, which is focused on making renewable energy an agenda for the nation to change climate change. The WWF team in India is also aiming to raise funds to bring solar power to 1000 households in the Indian Sundarbans region, which is currently living off the grid.

5000 Unite at the Basantapur Durbar Square in Nepal
The highlight of Earth Hour celebrations in Nepal was a concert that was held at the Basantapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kathmandu. With a convergance of youths, celebrities and conservation activists, the event is set to be a demonstration of Nepal’s increasing focus and switch to renewable energy to change climate change.

Earth Hour sweeps across the globe
Proving that no individual action on climate change is too small and that no collective vision is too big, WWF's Earth Hour kicked-off today with the first lights out event in the Pacific island of Samoa. “Earth Hour moves the discussion on climate from the conference room to the dining room, from the corridors of power to the grassroots,” said Sudhanshu Sarronwala, Chair of Earth Hour Global.
