 These falls can lead to injuries like sprains, fractures, and head trauma. Additionally, oil can be a chemical hazard, causing skin irritation and respiratory issues from fumes. Furthermore, oil spills can damage flooring and create fire hazards if ignited. 

Types of Hazards:

Slipping and Tripping Hazard:

Oil makes surfaces extremely slippery, increasing the risk of falls and injuries. 

Chemical Hazard:

Oil contains toxic compounds that can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems, and other health issues. 

Fire Hazard:

Oil is flammable, and spills can create a fire hazard, especially if ignited. 

Environmental Hazard:

Oil spills can contaminate soil and water, harming ecosystems and potentially affecting human food resources, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. 

Damage to Flooring:

Oil can seep into cracks and crevices, causing irreversible damage to flooring and potentially making it more slippery. 

Health Hazards:

Inhalation of oil fumes can cause dizziness, headaches, and nausea. Prolonged exposure can lead to respiratory problems, skin irritation, and other health issues. 

Mitigation:

Promptly clean up oil spills using appropriate methods and materials. 

Use absorbent materials to contain the spill and prevent it from spreading. 

Ventilate the area to minimize the concentration of fumes. 

Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn when handling oil spills. 

Regularly inspect and maintain equipment to prevent leaks and spills, says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
