Over 5,000 employees of industries take part in the event

A massive rally with over 5,000 employees working in different industries in East Godavari district was taken out in the city on Wednesday as part of the 46th National Safety Week. The rally was flagged off by Collector H. Arun Kumar at the Town Hall and ended at the JNTUK, where special teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a mock drill on safety measures in the event of gas leakage in industries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Arun Kumar said the district administration was keen on industrial development and at the same time there would be no compromise on the safety front. He called upon the industrial units to fall in line with regard to safety norms and accord top priority to proper effluent management.
Director of Factories G. Bala Kishore said industrial safety was the need of the hour, as East Godavari district was one among the fastest growing districts on the industrial front. He wanted the managements to take proper steps for the safety of their employees and the people residing around the industrial units.

Deputy chief inspector of factories M.V. Sivakumar Reddi, Kakinada RDO Raghubabu, Godavari EHS Association president M. Gyana Sundaram and others were present.
Self-protection

The mock drill by the NDRF team was the cynosure of all eyes at JNTUK where the personnel displayed the ways and means of self-protection and protection of workplace in the event of accidents.
