Fire safety week begins in Andhra Pradesh

 Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh state disaster response and fire service department has started its Fire Service Week from April 14 to 20, with the theme ‘Awareness in fire safety for growth of national infrastructure (AGNI)’ on Friday.

The fire personnel have observed commemoration day at all fire stations. On Saturday, they will take up demonstrations on fire safety at public places like bus stands, railway stations, malls, markets, cinema theaters and slum areas.

On April 16, they will take up fire prevention inspections and hold demonstrations at residential areas highlighting safety vis-a-vis use of domestic gas and on safe usage of electrical equipment.

On April 17, they will organise fire prevention lectures and fire drills in educational institutions.

The next day, they will conduct fire prevention lectures and fire drills in industries, petrol pumps, LPG storage godowns and at oil installations.

On April 19, they will conduct fire safety inspections and provide training in first-aid for firefighting in hospitals. The next day, they will conduct workshops/seminars on fire safety by involving all sections of societies and all stakeholders of different occupations.

The fire personnel responded to 12,812 fire and emergency calls, saved property and saved 284 human lives in the state in 2022-23.
