Change Driver
Combines vision with the persistence and drive to mobilize people around a higher purpose.
Systems Perspective and Visionary Thinking provide the
basis for the leader to know what changes need to be made. This
competency reflects the citizenship leader’s ability to drive corporate
citizenship principles and policies into all aspects of the business and
systematize corporate citizenship within the organization on a
professional and long-lasting basis. It includes taking the initiative
to increase effectiveness and scope of corporate citizenship by
measuring impact and applying learning from earlier projects,
establishing consistent practices and philosophy across the organization
to build and execute a comprehensive and integrated corporate
citizenship strategy for the company. In addition, leaders must step up
to set goals and track and measure corporate citizenship impact over
time.
This leader displayed the ability to drive change when he took his case to executives:
"The desire was to create an imprint in global
integration that would translate from business strategy to the company's
corporate citizenship strategy...I asked to take on the responsibility
of thinking through a broader element of the global integration strategy
into the community... And came up with a construct to be able to do
this, both a management construct on how it would be done, using country
general managers, business units, the leadership structure of the
company and then the core element of the program, which was to review
everything that we're currently doing to determine, first of all, how
extensive it was."
