An innate optimism and strong personal belief in the potential of corporate citizenship to make a significant contribution and difference for business and society is critical for successful corporate citizenship leaders. This Optimistic Commitment is a key foundation for their relationships and is critical to their capacity to successfully motivate and engage others. Leaders succeed because they genuinely believe that effective corporate citizenship is good for the business, the employees and society. It is this belief and conviction that also helps sustain the leaders’ motivation and effort through changes and setbacks in what can be a difficult journey.
