Operating Procedures

  1. Development and implementation of operating procedures:
    • Steps for each operating phase (e.g., startup, normal operation, shutdown, etc.)
    • Operating limits (e.g., consequences of deviation, steps for correction, etc.)
    • Exposure limits
    • Safety and health considerations
    • Incompatible materials
    • Safety systems.
  2. Procedure accessibility to employees.
  3. Annual certification of procedure accuracy.
  4. Implementation of safe work practices (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined entry).

SMS Will:

  • Assist in drafting new/revised operation procedures as required.
  • Assist in review/evaluation of procedure accuracy and incorporation of safety and health issues.
  • Assist the PSM Certification team in the annual review of procedures.
  • Assist in review/evaluation of “Safe Work Practices” system.

Client Will:

  • Write or maintain the procedures.
  • Maintain system for employee or contractor access to procedures.
  • Certify procedures.
  • Provide process engineering expertise/data/drawings as applicable.
