Tips to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali in your apartment

Get geared up to enjoy the festival of lights and happiness in an eco-friendly way, as Diwali is just around the corner. This festival is celebrated all over India irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Diwali commemorates the arrival of Lord Ram after 14 years of exile defeating Ravana, people of Ayodhya decorate their homes with earthen lights in joy.
However, the celebration of Diwali begins with house cleaning, decoration along with traditional pujas and cheerful get together. However, the changing lifestyle has drastically affected the ways of celebrating this auspicious event. The contemporary lifestyle celebrates this event by electric illumination and noisy fire crackers. These unhealthy factors of celebration affects environment in a negative way. But not to worry, here are some tips to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner;

Community celebration:

To have an eco-friendly celebration, encourage community celebration rather than celebrating individually. Doing this will reduce the cost of celebration as well as paper pollution caused by firing crackers and also noise and air pollution.

Choose an apt location:

An open ground will be the best option while celebrating Diwali. Invite all the residents to the chosen place rather than spreading all over the apartment premises.

Set a time limit:

It is important that a community celebration should have a time limit which should not exceed 3-4 hours. Setting the time limit will help ease the disturbance in the community.

Eco-friendly crackers:

Avoid purchasing chemical based crackers and instead go in for eco-friendly crackers. Eco-friendly crackers are available in most of the stores and are made out of recycled paper and the noise produced by these crackers do not cross a certain decibel defined by the pollution board. Also these crackers do not create noise on bursting instead produce colorful paper fluffers.

Traditional lighting:

Avoid opting for electric illumination and instead go in for traditional lighting like earthen lamps and diyas. These objects not only will beautify your apartment but will also reduce the cost of electricity. Earthen lamps last for quite a maximum amount of time rather than just few hours.

Shop economically:

Avoid purchasing things that are of no use for you. By buying things which are useful for you reduces consumption of things and ther by consumption of raw material used in manufacturing those things.

Recyclable items:

Instead of using chemical based necessities and commodities, go in for eco-friendly objects.
