Dear All,
How delta iron is analysed in urea prills (Product urea)?
I understand that , it is giving information regarding corrosion happening in the process.
What are the normal values?
What are the alarming values?
If anyone is having information on this, please share.

The delta iron analyse by Ortho Phenonthroline method
Delta Iron in Urea Prills allowed 2 ppm(Max)
In our Plant it is 1.0-1.5 ppm

Dear Prem,
Thanks for prompt reply.
Is this analysis carried out on daily basis or as and when required?
What can be the reason for it's increase?
Why the term "Delta"?
Is it a difference between two ?
If yes, what are those two points / locations?
What are the controls available to keep it under defined values?
If the value increases beyond 2 ppm, what happens?

Dear Mr. Rajkumar

Yes this analysis carried out daily basis however delta iron check programme in bi month.Delta iron is Indication of corrosion in the system. This corrosion is in the form of ferrite. The Ferrite is the form of body cantered cubic(BCC) and defined as delta iron.
How to control?
1. Passivation must be more than 0.25% in CO2 for M/S. Saipem process and for M/S. Stamicarbon it is 0.3%.
2. N/C ratio must be maintained as per designed
3. The reactor solution holding time in shut down not more than 48 hrs in short shut down.
4. Check active corrosion in the system
