RABI Crops Sowing Crosess 519 lakh Hactare

          As per preliminary reports received from the States, the total area sown under Rabi crops as on 16^th December, 2016 stands at 519.27 lakh hectares as compared to 490.48 lakh hectare this time in 2015.

             Wheat has been sown/transplanted in 256.19 lakh hectares, rice in 8.44 lakh hectares, pulses in 131.80 lakh hectares, coarse cereals in 48.53 lakh hectares and area sown under oilseeds is 74.31 lakh hectares.

 The area sown so far and that sown during last year this time is as follows:
