AM Green plans to build two bio-ethanol plants to produce second-generation (2G) biofuels. The bio-ethanol will be produced from non-food biomass, such as animal waste and plant materials.
Assam Bio Refinery Pvt Ltd
AM Green plans to acquire a 50% stake in Assam Bio Refinery Pvt Ltd from Fortum Oyj and Chempolis Oy. The refinery is currently co-owned by Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL), Fortum, and Chempolis.
Chempolis Oy
AM Green plans to acquire Chempolis Oy, a biotechnology company based in Finland. Chempolis is a technology licensor for second-generation biofuels and pioneered the world's first plant to produce cellulosic ethanol and bio-based chemicals from bamboo.
AM Green's plans are part of its goal to be a major player in the green energy transition in India. The company's investments are intended to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help airlines reduce their carbon footprint.
