A forklift inspection can be visual or operational, and should include:

Fluid levels: Check the oil, water, and hydraulic fluid levels

Leaks: Check for leaks in hydraulic hoses, chains, and cables

Cracks: Check for cracks in the overhead guard, hydraulic hoses, and chains

Worn components: Check for worn hoses, chains, and cables

Battery: Check for corrosion, leaks, or loose connections in the battery

Tires: Check the tire condition, pressure, and look for cuts and gouges

Seat belt: Ensure the seat belt is working and not frayed or torn

Brakes and steering: Test the brakes and steering controls

Horn, alarms, and lights: Test the horn, alarms, and lights

Handbrake: Make sure the handbrake works

Strange noises: If you hear any strange noises, turn off the machine and investigate
