 Here are some clauses from the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981:

Section 3: The Central Pollution Control Board is constituted under this section. 

Section 6: The Central Board exercises the powers and functions of a State Board for a Union territory. 

Section 24: A person empowered by a State Board has the right to enter any place at reasonable times to perform their functions. They can also examine control equipment, industrial plants, records, and other material objects. 

Section 42: No suit, prosecution, or other legal proceeding can be brought against the Government or any officer of the Government in respect of anything done in good faith in pursuance of the Act. 

Section 37: Whoever fails to comply with the provisions of section 21 or section 22 or directions issued under section 31-A shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term of at least one year and six months but not more than six years. 

Section 23: If an air pollutant is emitted into the atmosphere in excess of the standards laid down by the State Board, the person in charge of the premises shall take action. 

Section 10: A Board shall meet at least once in every three months. 

The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 was enacted to provide for the prevention, control, and abatement of air pollution. The Act also establishes central and State Boards to monitor air quality and control pollution.

The act was passed under Article 253 of the Constitution of India and came into force on March 29, 1981. 

The act's objectives include:

Preventing, controlling, and reducing air pollution 

Establishing boards to carry out these objectives 

Assigning powers and functions to these boards 

Defining terms such as air pollution, air pollutants, vehicular exhausts, and industrial plants 

Declaring certain areas as Air Pollution Control Areas 

Restricting industrial plants from operating in these areas without prior consent 

The act established the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards. The CPCB sets air quality standards and provides technical assistance and guidance to the State Pollution Control Boards.
