NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) is developing a green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh that will produce green ammonia and other green derivatives:
Location
The hub is located on 1,600 acres of land near Pudimadaka village in the Atchutapuram Mandal of Visakhapatnam.
Production
The hub will produce 4,500 tonnes of green ammonia per day, along with other green derivatives like methanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Exports
The majority of the production will be exported to Europe and other markets.
Infrastructure
The hub will include a desalination plant, GIS substation, and port logistics. It will also have plug-and-play facilities for manufacturing electrolysers, solar PV modules, battery energy storage systems, and fuel cells.
Timeline
The groundwork for plug-and-play facilities is expected to be operational in three years, but full-scale green hydrogen production might take five to six years.
Cost
The cost per kilogram of green hydrogen is estimated to be between $4.10 and $7.
The hub is a key part of India's Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to make India a leader in green hydrogen production.
