They also climb stairs, have thermal vision, and live-stream rescues.
China is modernizing its emergency response with the deployment of firefighting robot dogs that can spray 60-meter water jets, scale stairs, and stream live video for realtime situational awareness.
Developed by robotics firm Unitree, these advanced quadruped robots are engineered for high-stakes fire and rescue scenarios, equipped with powerful water cannons and robust mobility to navigate complex terrain.
Built from durable composite metals and fitted with a drencher cooling system, the robots can withstand heat and debris while maintaining extended operational readiness through quick-swap, waterproof batteries.
Already in active use by firefighting teams, including those in Qingdao and Hunan, the robots have been tested in a range of scenarios-from forest firefighting to urban disaster drills. Beyond extinguishing flames with water or foam, variants use high-speed airflow to prevent flame spread in forest fires.
A built-in visualization platform enables long-range video streaming, helping remote teams make safer and faster decisions. These robot dogs aren't just firefighting tools-they represent a new frontier in intelligent, tech-driven emergency management.
