 AM Green is developing a green ammonia project at the Kakinada Seaport in Andhra Pradesh, India, which will be a key part of a larger green ammonia production initiative. The project aims to produce 1 MTPA of green ammonia, powered by renewable energy and incorporating other green molecule production facilities. Beyond Kakinada, AM Green plans to establish green ammonia production in other locations, aiming for 5 MTPA by 2030. 

Key Aspects of the Kakinada Project:

Strategic Location:

The project is situated at Kakinada Seaport, enabling efficient export of green ammonia. 

Green Hydrogen Production:

The plant will produce green hydrogen using renewable energy and advanced electrolysers. 

Phase Development:

The project will be developed in phases, starting with a 1 MTPA green ammonia production facility. 

Renewable Energy:

The plant will be powered by renewable energy, including a 2 GW electrolyser manufacturing plant and other green molecule production facilities. 

Certifications:

The project has secured pre-certification from CertifHy, indicating compliance with EU RFNBO requirements for green ammonia. 

Export to Europe:

A significant portion of the green ammonia produced will be exported to Europe. 

AM Green's Broader Initiative:

Green Ammonia Capacity:

AM Green aims to achieve 5 MTPA of green ammonia production capacity by 2030, which would be equivalent to approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. 

Decarbonization Focus:

The initiative aims to support India's decarbonization goals and meet demand for green molecules in hard-to-abate industries. 

Multiple Locations:

AM Green is planning to develop green ammonia production facilities across multiple locations in India. 

Green Hydrogen Goals:

The project contributes to India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe's green hydrogen import goals. 

Other Port Initiatives:

Transitioning Industrial Clusters Initiative:

The Kakinada project is part of the World Economic Forum's Transitioning Industrial Clusters Initiative, which aims to foster collaboration and drive economic growth, employment, and CO2e reduction in industrial clusters, including those located at ports. 

Green Ammonia Supply Pact:

AM Green has signed a supply agreement with Yara Clean Ammonia to supply green ammonia from the Kakinada facility to Yara's global market.
