Audits
are to provide a means for continual improvement, make a process more
transparent, monitor processes, promote effective control.
Audits
are a vital tool for management to help them in these areas
1.Verify
processes
2.Assess
successful process implementation – once a process has been implemented, an
audit can help make sure that it was successfully implemented and is doing what
it should
3.Judge
effectiveness of target levels – when target levels are set, audits can then
look and see if the target levels are effective in helping to achieve quality
processes
4.Reduce
and eliminate problem areas – audits can look at the system as a whole and find
areas that are causing problems and either reduce the problem or eliminate it
altogether
5.Report
non-conformance and corrections – audits help to show where processes are not
being followed and tell what was done to correct the non-conformance
6.Report
good practices – audits should not just be used to find problems, but should
also be used to see the things that are working properly and how that is
helping
7.Continual
improvement – the overall goal of an audit is to find what is and isn’t working
in the system so that the system can continually be improved
