Trees and plants that absorb carbon dioxide

Here are some trees and plants that absorb carbon dioxide

Teak

According to a study by Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER), teak has the highest carbon sequestration capacity among trees in India.

Neem

This tree absorbs 1.45 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide in its lifetime. It also absorbs other pollutants like sulfur dioxide and sulfur.

Banyan

The national tree of India, the banyan tree is known for emitting large amounts of oxygen.

Bamboo

Bamboo absorbs 5% more carbon dioxide than other trees and produces nearly 30% more oxygen. One hectare of bamboo plantation can absorb up to 200 tonnes of CO2 in a year.

Tulsi

This plant absorbs harmful gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide from the air. It also gives out oxygen 20 hours a day.

Aloe vera

This plant absorbs CO2 at night and also neutralizes the air effects of benzene and formaldehyde.

Areca palm

This plant absorbs poisonous gases, such as carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene from the air.

The choice of tree species is crucial to the total amount of carbon dioxide absorbed from the atmosphere. Different tree species sequester different quantities of carbon
