 Fire Safety - Know Your Extinguishers, Save Lives



Fires can happen anywhere on construction sites

With knowledge, preparedness, and the right equipment, most fire incidents can be prevented or controlled before they cause serious harm. !


Understanding Fire Types is the first step. Fires are classified based on the material burning:


Class A: Wood, paper, cloth, plastics. These are ordinary combustibles. Extinguish with Water Foam. or


Class B: Flammable liquids such as petrol, paint, or oils. Extinguish with Foam

or Dry Powder


Class C: Flammable gases like LPG, propane, or hydrogen. Use Dry Powder to safely interrupt combustion.


Class D: Combustible metals such as magnesium or sodium. Special metal-specific dry powders are required.


Class FQ: Cooking oils and fats, common in kitchens. Wet chemical extinguishers saponify the oil and cool the fire.


Electrical: Fires involving wiring, panels, or appliances. Never use water X-use CO₂ Powder or Dry
