Theory of Acid Rain

 Theory of Acid Rain

Acid rain is precipitation containing harmful acids, mainly sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) and nitric acid (HNO₃). It forms when sulphur dioxide (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NOâ‚“), released from factories, vehicles and burning fossil fuels, react with water and oxygen in the atmosphere. The main causes are industrial pollution, vehicle emissions and coal burning. Acid rain damages forests, crops, soil, buildings and aquatic life by making water and soil acidic. It can also worsen respiratory problems in humans. We can prevent acid rain by reducing air pollution, using renewable energy, controlling industrial emissions and planting more trees.
