National Child Labour Projects
The Government
is implementing National Child Labour Project (NCLP) in 266 districts of 20 States
of the country including Maharashtra for rehabilitation of children
rescued/withdrawn from work. Under the Project, children rescued/withdrawn from
work are enrolled in the special schools, where they are provided with bridge
education, vocational training, nutrition, stipend, health care, etc. before
being mainstreamed into formal education system. The State-wise details of
children rehabilitated/mainstreamed since inception i.e. 1988 under the Scheme
is given as Annexure-I.
Detail of State-wise grants released under NCLP
Scheme during the last five years is given as Annexure-II.
The Ministry has
received proposals from Government of Uttar Pradesh for addition of new
district i.e. Panchsheel Nagar (Hapur)
and Government of Meghalya for 7 new districts to
cover under NCLP Scheme. The Ministry has granted permission for implementation
of NCLP in Panchsheel Nagar (Hapur)
in Uttar Pradesh. However, sanctioning
of 7 new districts in Megahalaya is pending for want
of survey report on child labour from State Government. No such proposal has
been received from Maharashtra.
The Union Labour &
Employment Minister Shri Mallikarjun
Kharge gave this information in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
