Dear Dr Amarnath Giri,

Thank you for your interest in Etank & AMETank.  Now that API-650, API-620, & AWWA D100 are available in AMETank, AMETank has become our main software, replacing ETank2000.  AMETank is the next generation of Storage Tank Design, Modeling, & Drafting software jointly developed by E-Ware Software LLC (developers of ETank2000) and TechnoSoft Inc. (developers of a wide range of 3D manufacturing programs (www.technosoft.com).  AMETank can be used to design vertical, aboveground storage tanks to the API-650, API-620, & AWWA D100 codes.   We are currently working on adding EN14015 and UL-142.  API-620 & AWWA D100 are currently limited to flat bottom tanks, but elevated tanks on legs or skirts will be available later this year.  API-620 Appendices Q & R are included for low temperature and cryogenic tanks.  API-653 will also be available very soon so you can re-rate or evaluate existing tanks that have been built to one of the “built-in” design codes.  AMETank is the only software that includes API-650, API-620, AWWA D100 (and soon API-653) so a wide variety of tanks can be designed using AMETank.  AMETank also includes Emergency Venting calculations per API-2000.  This versatility is very important and unmatched for an engineer involved in tank design or inspections.  AMETank can be used by tank fabricators & erectors (both large & small tanks), Engineering/EPC companies, Petrochemical companies (for designing new tanks and for evaluating existing tanks), engineering consultants, and NDT companies (involved with tank inspection or repair).  In the future AMETank will be able to merge design, drafting, purchasing, QA/QC, fabrication, & inspection all together with one program.

Additionally, TechnoSoft now can provide Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on AMETank models and can reverse engineer the cloud data from a laser scan to create a 3D model of exiting tanks in their exact condition with bulges, dents, or buckled shells.

AMETank licenses are “floating licenses” so they can be set up as stand-alone licenses or network licenses.

AMETank is the perfect tool for both shop fabricated tanks and field erected tanks.  Not only does AMETank quickly & easily perform the code calculations, automatically generate drawings and bill of materials, but it can help with estimating, purchasing & QC as well.  You can design a 10 ft diameter or 300 ft diameter tank that would normally take several hours in less than an hour.  In under 2 hours you could have a complete set of fabrication drawings that would normally take up to a week to create.  The savings in manhours will more than pay for itself in just the first few jobs.  Imagine if your customer asked you to quote a tank and you were able to design the tank, create an estimate, and send him drawings in a couple hours versus a week or two.  And in addition to the quote & drawings, you could send the customer a 3D model of the tank with the AMETank Viewer.  He does not even need AutoCAD or any other software to view the 3D model.  AMETank will also create a spec sheet or data sheet to include with your quote.  If you could do that in a couple hours, you could quote 5 or 10 times more tanks and actually grow your business.  Not only is AMETank faster than trying to design a tank in a spreadsheet or Mathcad, but most engineers tell me that they do not have the time to keep up with the multitudes of codes required to keep their spreadsheets up to date with the current codes.

I have copied a link to request a trial license for AMETank below.  Please add a note that you were referred by Jeffcoat.  Our partner TechnoSoft will contact you with instructions to set up a trial license and to schedule a live demonstration and/or training.  The demo and training are free, and we highly recommend the both in order to get the most out of AMETank.

The full AMETank ME (Master Edition) can perform the design calculations, includes a 3D model of the tank, and will automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings as well as a bill of materials (BOM), CNC drawings, material purchase tables, inspection tables, and costing data tables.   AMETank is also fully SI (metric) compatible.  You design the tank by going through a series of design screens/menus while AMETank performs the design/code calculations and shows you the design thicknesses, areas, or section properties you need for each component.  These design requirements are shown on the design screens as you design the tank, unlike other programs that make you go through the design screens, then perform an “analysis”, and then make you go back through the design screens all over again and again to make adjustments.  Having the required thicknesses and other design requirements on the design screens when you need them makes AMETank much faster and easier to use than our competition.  All of the design calculations are available in a well-documented report which shows you the relevant code references, the actual design formulas with variables, numerical substitution into the formulas, and the result of the calculation.   All relevant design info, loads, major components, and weights are shown in a summary report at the front of the report.  We have even added spiral welded shell courses for a customer in Canada.  If you have new features that you would like to add to AMETank, we can do that.

We have 4 different versions of AMETank so there is an affordable version for you.  It just depends on what you are looking for.  The version that performs only the calculations is the most affordable of all tank design software and is comparable to other storage tank design software except AMETank  has 4 different license levels depending on what you need.  You can always upgrade to a more advance version later.  AMETank can also import tank files from ETank and some other programs.  These are the 4 versions of AMETank.:
·        AMETank DCM (Design Calculation Module) is the base version  that is the equivalent to ETank2000 in that it will  perform the calculations, but does not include the 3D geometry nor does it include the automatic drawing generation, bill of materials or other features included in the full version.
·        AMETank DCM 3D (Design Calculation Module + 3D Geometry) includes the calculations like AMETank DCM, but also includes a 3D model.  AMETank DCM 3D includes the same 3D environment as AMETank ME which the user can zoom in and out, rotate the model, and hide components.  For example, you could hide the roof and shell plates so that you can look at the structural supports for the roof.  Or you could hide the roof plates to make sure the roof nozzles, manways or vents do not sit above any rafters or girders.
·        AMETank ME (Master Edition) is the full version that will include all of the calculations and the 3D model, plus it will automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings and a bill of materials.  Additional functionality includes the generation of the CNC drawings, component fabrication tables, the material purchase tables, inspection tables, and costing data tables.  AMETank ME will also eventually have some new structurally supported roof types (a truss supported conical roof) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
·        AMETank ME ShopFab (Master Edition – ShopFab) is the same as the AMETank ME, but is limited to shop fabricated tanks.  It does not include structurally supported roofs.  Includes AMPreVa for elevated tanks leg/skirt/lug design.  Includes all of the calculations and the 3D model, plus it will automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings and a bill of materials.  Additional functionality includes the generation of the CNC drawings, component fabrication tables, the material purchase tables, inspection tables, and costing data tables.

Drafting Module:  Available only with AMETank ME.  Automatically generates a complete set of fabrication drawings, a bill of materials (BOM), CNC drawings, material purchase tables, inspection tables, and costing data tables
Design Conditions:  AMETank performs calculations for the maximum/minimum liquid level, maximum design temperature, minimum design metal temperature (MDMT), internal & external pressure, plus wind & seismic loads.
General Design Information like diameter, shell height, design temperature, internal & external pressure, product specific gravity, minimum & maximum liquid level, live loads, dead loads, and snow loads are all entered on the Design Parameters screen.  Wind & Seismic design criteria are all entered on the Seismic & Wind Design screen.  Design data, thicknesses, and other dimensions can all be entered in either US units, SI units, or a combination of units.   AMETank also has the SI formulas from API-650 built in so the calculations are performed with SI formulas and SI variables.  This is important because other programs let you enter data in SI units, then convert the variables to US units for the calculations, and then convert the results back to US units.  Doing that causes 2 sets of conversion errors.  They do not tell you this, and you really do not know because they do not show all of the calculations worked out with numerical substitution like AMETank does.  When SI units are selected as the unit system, AMETank performs all of the calculations using SI formulas and SI variables, so there are no conversions.  No conversion errors.  AMETank also clearly shows the SI formulas and variables in the report so the report is not a jumble of US & SI units.
AISC, Metric, & European structural members and shapes are built in and available for wind girders, vacuum stiffeners, rafters, girders, & columns.  All materials from API-650 & API-620 are built into the material database.  Users can add user-defined materials and user-defined structural shapes.  Our programmers & trainers can show you how to add them or they can add them for you. As we go along we can also add materials from other codes & countries.
AMETank DCM can be used to quickly perform a basic design for budgeting and estimating.  The calculation reports are available in all versions of AMETank.  The Summary reports (see below) can be used to assist in estimating.  It includes the weights and sizes of all of the major components including the roof, roof supports, shell courses, bottom floor, wind girders, & stiffeners  Below is a section of the Summary Report showing the nameplate information, shell courses and roof materials.  The costing data tables (available only in the AMETank ME version) show the weights of all components as well as the weld lengths for each type of weld.

AMETank can be used to perform a complete set of calculations to send to the owner/operator or an engineering company.  The AMETank reports are very complete and include code references and numerical substitution in the formulas.  The code references are very important for verifying the calculations and it also is a good learning tool if you are not very familiar with the API codes.  Ease of use and the reports are probably two of the best features of AMETank DCM.  We have had many customers switch to ETank & AMETank from other software programs, and one of the reasons they tell me is the completeness of the calculations and the report, as well as the fact that the results are shown “live” on the screen.  Every time you change a variable and hit APPLY, AMETank re-calculates everything.  You do not have to go through several screens entering data and then have it run an analysis.  AMETank runs a complete analysis every time you click APPLY.  This saves a lot of time in the design process because you can see the results and make changes while you are on each design screen.  AMETank progressively goes through the design screens in the same order you would do it if you had to design a tank by hand.  The report also shows every calculation.  I have copied part of the seismic calcs below from one of the sample tanks.  The report always shows the original formula with the appropriate reference from the code.  Then it shows the values substituted into the formula and solves the formula.  For many formulas, AMETank also back-calculates the maximum allowable pressure or vacuum, and the maximum liquid level.  You can access the calculations/report for any component or the entire tank simply by clicking the Reports tab and clicking Create Report.  AMETank also shows the important results (required thickness or area) and MAWP on the screen so it is easy for the user to see what is going on.  And if there is a question, the user can quickly look at the report to see what is causing the problem.

Shell Course Design:  Calculations are performed for the entire tank for the design conditions.  The screenshot below shows the Shell Course Data Table in which you can enter the course width, material, corrosion allowance, joint efficiency, and actual thickness for each shell course.  AMETank shows you the Yield Strength, Tensile Strength, Design Allowable Stress, & the Hydrotest Allowable Stress.  AMETank also shows you the required thickness for the code, for the product, for the hydrotest, for seismic, and external pressure.  T-min is the greatest of the other t-min’s.  You can click the “Initialize” button and AMETank will automatically choose the next highest nominal thickness for each shell course.
In AMETank you can design self supported cone or dome roofs and several types of structurally supported roofs.  The screenshot below shows the screen where the user can select the rafters, girders, & columns for a structurally supported conical roof.  The minimum number of rafters for each bay are calculated and shown as well as the required section module for each rafter & girder, and the required radius of gyration for each column.  The roof plate required thickness is also dependent on the rafter spacing, so AMETank calculates the minimum number of rafters for each bay based on the actual roof plate thickness.
***  I have attached a brochure and more detailed information about AMETank.  Unfortunately we do not yet have a demo for AMETank DCM, but it is very similar to ETank except it includes SI unit capabilities.  A demo for AMETank DCM will be available very soon.  AMETank DCM 3D is the same as AMETank DCM except that it shows a 3D model of the tank so the user can see what is being designed.  For AMETank ME, what we would like to do is show you the full capabilities of AMETank via a live WebEx demonstration at a date/time convenient to you during your working hours in your time zone.  We will also give you a free trial version of AMETank ME and free WebEx based training so that your users can properly use AMETank.  If you want more info or a WebEx demonstration on AMETank please let me know.
Competitive Upgrade: We offer a competitive upgrade for potential customers who currently are using a competitors tank design software.  Email me and tell me what software you are currently using and I will let you know how it works.  There is no reason for you to suffer through the limitations of other tank design software when AMETank has an option for you and we will offer you a very competitive pricing option.  Even AMETank DCM will provide an easier, quicker, tank design solution than what you are using.  AND it opens up the possibility to upgrade to AMETank DCM 3D so you can see what you are designing or the full AMETank ME which will automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and much, much more.
Laser Scanning:  We now have a Laser Scanning Module that can take cloud data from an internal or external laser scan of a tank and reverse engineer the data to create a true 3D model of the tank that can be analyzed in AMETank.  The analysis includes a complete structural analysis, bottom settlement, shell settlement, verticality, out of roundness, and strapping charts.  Laser scanning can replace conventional settlement testing and provides much more relevant results in less time.  This is a must for tanks being retrofitted with a floating roof.  The floating roof can be super-imposed on the 3D model of the tank to determine if there will be any problems with the floating roof due to verticality of the shell and columns.
Laser scanning can also be used to check the fabrication tolerances and accuracy of the shell, roof supports, nozzles, and many other things.  If you design a tank in AMETank and then have a laser scan performed, you can compare the theoretical design to the actual as-built model.  Out of roundness, verticality, locations of nozzles & other appurtenances, and many other things can be compared between the as-built model and the theoretical model.  External Laser Scanning can also be used to check for shell settlement before, during and after hydrotesting.
Inspection Module:  We are working on an Inspection Module that can record inspection data, inspection & repair history, and automatically generate inspection drawings.
Finite Element Analysis:  FEA is now available for certain AMETank models depending on tank configuration and roof type.  This is a service provided by TechnoSoft.  Because AMETank automatically generates a true 3D model, TechnoSoft has the capability to perform an FEA analysis on certain components like the roof structure, nozzles, and agitators.
AMETank DCM (Design Calculation Module) is very similar to ETank except the design screens are a little more modern.  If you have downloaded the ETank demo you should have a good idea how AMETank DCM will work.  AMETank DCM 3D performs the calculations like AMETank DCM, except it also shows you the 3D model on the right hand side of the screen.  If you are interested in the full AMETank ME version, then there are a couple alternatives.  The 1st option is to go ahead and purchase either the AMETank DCM or AMETank DCM 3D.  When you have AMETank DCM or AMETank DCM 3D installed, you can set up a time for a WebEx based training session for the version you purchase.  The trainer can also show you the full capabilities of AMETank ME.  The 2nd option is to start with the WebEx demonstration for the full AMETank.  Under both options we will set you up with trial licenses of AMETank ME for however many people you want trained and will provide them with 8 hours of WebEx based training so they can competently use AMETank ME on existing jobs you have to determine if AMETank will be beneficial to your company.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Please include the company you work for, your location, and what you are looking for in a tank design software so I can tell you more about the AMETank features which are important to you.

AMETANK:  # 1 API STORAGE TANK INSPECTION  |  TANK INTEGRITY  |  FITNESS FOR SERVICE  |  FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

If your company owns or manages Aboveground Storage Tanks, you probably have to meet federal, state, or even corporate mandates for safety and reliability.  New tanks have to be designed to meet appropriate standards and existing tanks need to be inspected for Fitness of Service.  Even if you do not have to meet such requirements, a tank inspection program is just good business sense.  Removing deteriorating storage tanks or repairing them to make them fit for service will prevent costly downtime, not to mention environmental headaches & fines if they fail while in service.

What if you had a tank design tool that would allow you to re-rate (evaluate) --within minutes -- existing tanks according to API standards?

AMETank is a software program that can be used to design or re-rate aboveground storage tanks to API-650, API-620, AWWA D100 & API-653.  AMETank can be used to design new tanks per API-650, API-620, AWWA D100 or UL-142.  It can also be used to evaluate or re-rate existing tanks as part of a Mechanical Integrity Program or Tank Inspection Program in accordance with API-653.   AMETank is the only software that includes API-650, API-620, & AWWA D100 plus API-653 so a wide variety of tanks can be designed/evaluated using AMETank.  AMETank can also be used for Emergency Venting calculations per API-2000.

AMETank is used by hundreds of petrochemical plants and inspection/engineering companies as part of their tank inspection program.  AMETank can be used to calculate the t-mins for a normal inspection program, but also does so much more.  It doesn't take but 20-30 minutes to do a basic model and the evaluation AMETank gives you is essentially like an API-579 Level 2 evaluation.  AMETank performs calculations for liquid level, internal pressure, external pressure, plus wind & seismic loads.  AMETank also checks compression rings, anchor chairs, nozzle reinforcement and emergency venting.

Companies such as BP, SHELL, REPSOL, YPFB, BAYER, & HUNTSMAN have used AMETank for years to verify the condition/suitability of their aboveground storage tanks in accordance with API-650, API-620, AWWA D100, & API-653.

AMETank also can automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings, detail drawings, production list, bill of materials, and eventually an estimate.  AMETank can evaluate the cloud data from a laser scan and perform settlement, out of roundness, and verticality analyses as well as create strapping charts which take into account any deformation of the shell and floor.  AMETank can also be used for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using a special FEA module.

If you have 2 or 3 minutes today, take a look to see if our software can help you with your Tank Inspection Program.  AMETank’s reports are complete with code references & formulas with numerical substitution.

AMETank DCM (Design Calculation Module) is the base version  that is the equivalent to ETank2000 in that it will  perform the calculations, but does not include the 3D geometry nor does it include the automatic drawing generation, bill of materials or other features included in the full version.
AMETank DCM 3D (Design Calculation Module + 3D Geometry) includes the calculations like AMETank DCM, but also includes a 3D model.
AMETank ME (Master Edition) is the full version that will include all of the calculations and the 3D model, plus it will automatically generate a complete set of fabrication drawings and a bill of materials.  Additional functionality includes the generation of the CNC drawings, component fabrication tables, the material purchase tables, inspection tables, and costing data tables.  AMETank ME will also eventually have some new structurally supported roof types (a truss supported conical roof) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Or email me at jeffcoat@etank.com and I will send you more information about AMETank.
