Emergency & Contingency Planning

Emergencies can take many forms and each will have differing impacts on a company. Understandably, some topics are quite emotive like fatalities and accidents, even fires and we tend to think we know what we would do in such circumstances – do you know what you would do, do your management know what would be expected of them?

Sound emergency and disaster recovery planning is a critical part of an environmental or occupational safety and health management system. It is also critical to your business survival. Studies have shown that 2 out of 5 businesses that experience a disaster never resume operations. Don't let that happen to your business!

Scope of Work

We would meet with the management team(s) and identify what critical situations could arise. We would then go on to determine what would be required to mitigate the effects of the eventuality and move on to the restoration of a suitable arrangement to continue your business. One important step that is not to be overlooked is that on the means that you have of informing your affected staff of situations and arrangements.

These are the normal expectations in any emergency situation and should in many cases be already covered in the arrangements required for imminent danger, but our experience in the region is that this is not really so We would look at situations of prolonged power outage, fires, floods, product contamination, accident situations, uncontrolled release of substances, travelling arrangements etc. We would also analyze what likely effects may be caused to your business from the activities of neighbouring businesses.

Now you can start to realize how vulnerable you may be. You need to be prepared and this is where our service can be invaluable

Where such persons are committed to an affected area they should be provided with appropriate PPE and any necessary specialized equipment or plant to undertake the work required.

Where required we would organize and monitor mock drills to ensure that your systems work as they should and that your key management staff respond in the desired timely manner. We would need to meet with senior management to discuss this topic further as every business is unique in its own right and each would require certain levels of contingency availability.
