Total Sown Area Crosses 420 Lakh Hectares; Exceeds Crop Coverage at this Time Last Year

As per reports received from different States, sowing of rabi crops is progressing well in different parts of the country.           The rabi sowing area has exceeded the area sown by this time last year.  Wheat has been sown in 187.35 lakh hectare as compared to 181.67 lakh hectare rabi in 2011.  Total sown area stands at 420.63 lakh hectare today as against 419.67 lakh hectare last year.
