The Jonnagiri Gold Mine in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district is India's first large private gold mine. The mine is being developed by Geomysore Services India Pvt Ltd (GMSI) in partnership with Deccan Gold Mines Limited (DGML).

Location: 

The mine is located near the villages of Jonnagiri, Erragudi, and Pagadirayi in the Tuggali Mandalam of Kurnool district.

The nearest town is Gooty, which is on the Hyderabad–Bangalore National Highway No. 7.

The nearest railway station is at Pagadirayi on the South-Central Railways.

Project details:

The mine is being developed as an open pit mine with an integrated processing facility. 

The project has a Mining Lease (ML) and a NI 43-101 compliant Feasibility Study. 

The project has a total mineral resource of 6.5 million tonnes. 

The mine is expected to produce about 750 kilograms of gold per year. 

History: 

Geomysore Services Limited secured preliminary license to launch trials for exploration of gold in Jonnagiri mandal in 2013.

The firm started gold mining trials in 2021.

The firm set up a small processing unit and started exploration operations for the pilot project.
