1. Extinguisher Spacing:


Common Fires (Class A): Extinguishers should be available within 75 feet (23 meters) of the user and the nearest extinguisher.


Flammable Liquid Fires (Class B): Extinguishers of combustible materials should be available within 50 feet (15 meters).


Electrical Equipment Fires (Class C): Extinguishers are placed according to the distribution of Class A or B extinguishers because these fires require extinguishers designed for electrical current.


Metal Fires (Class D): Used in areas containing flammable metals, and placed at appropriate distances based on risk assessment.


Cooking Oil Fires (Class K): Place in commercial kitchen areas and within close proximity to cooking equipment.


2. Installation and Height:


▶️Extinguishers weighing less than 40 lbs (18 kg):


Attach the top of the extinguisher to a height of no more than 5 feet (1.5 m) from the ground.


▶️Extinguishers weighing more than 40 lbs (18 kg):


The top should be no more than 3.5 feet (1 m) from the ground.


Extinguishers should be visible and easily accessible, with a sign or label indicating their location.


3. Hazard Identification and Type of Extinguisher:


-you should Assess the types of fires likely to occur on site (e.g., paper, oil, electrical, or metal), Then use extinguishers appropriate to the type of fire likely to occur.


4. Accessibility:


-Extinguishers should not be hidden or exposed to any obstructions.


-Place them in prominent locations near exits or at assembly points.


5. Maintenance and inspection:


-Extinguishers should be inspected monthly to ensure readiness.


-Perform periodic maintenance according to the manufacturer's instructions.
