How to Prevent Soil Pollution

How to Prevent Soil Pollution

Soil Pollution is caused due to various human activities. Polluted soil becomes infertile and it becomes really hard to restore the soil to its original condition. Huge acres of land have turned into barren land due to pollution. We should take some measures to stop this. You will get all the possible solutions for your question “How to prevent soil pollution” here.
How to prevent soil pollution:
  • Cutting down trees on a large scale is the main cause of soil pollution. When the trees are cut, the nutrients that are present in the top soil are washed off by the rain water. Due to this soil loses its fertility.
  • If a large number of trees have already been cut from the forests, it is essential that we think about planting trees to replenish.
  • Air pollution is also one of the causes of soil pollution. When pollutants are released in the atmosphere due to various human activities, they stay in the atmosphere for a long time and come down to the earth due to rain and pollute soil.
  • Acid rains are major soil pollutants. Emission of sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere causes acid rains when they mix with the rain water. There are many more pollutants that cause acid rains, so preventing air pollution will also help prevent soil pollution.
  • Limit the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in farms. Synthetic fertilizers such as urea are very dangerous to our health and they also force the soil to lose its fertility.
  • Instead of making use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, use bio-fertilizers and manures. They increase the fertility of the soil and reduce soil pollution.
  • Recycling will also help you in preventing soil pollution. Things such as plastic that cannot be decomposed should not be dumped; they should be recycled and used to reduce soil pollution.
  • Remove weeds growing in the soil, because they soak the minerals that are present in the soil and decrease its fertility.
  • Mixed cropping and crop rotation are the methods of growing crops that will help you in retaining the fertility of the soil and makes it easy to increase the fertility of the soil.
  • The wastes from the industries such as chemicals and paints, other sewage from the house that is poisonous should be treated properly and should not be released on the land surfaces.
The tips given above are very helpful in preventing soil pollution and increasing the fertility of the soil so that greenery can be seen everywhere.
