to amarnathgiri Anticaking Agent Anticaking Agent Caking is a complex phenomenon. It is primarily dependent on the chemical composition of the Fertilizer. Depending upon the chemical composition, different fertilizers have different CRH (Critical Relative Humidity). The CRH for various Fertilizers are as given below:        % CRH      UREA      72.5      AMMONIUM NITRATE      59.5      AMMONIUM CHLORIDE      77.2      CALCIUM NITRATE      46.7      DAP      82.5      MAP      91.6      CALCIUM NITRATE + AMMONIUM NITRATE      23.5      AMMONIUM NITRATE+ AMMONIUM CHLORIDE      18.1 Low CRH of fertilizer means, it will absorb moisture from the environment. Hence, such fertilizers are more prone to moisture absorption and caking. The caking phenomenon is further accelerated by the presence of moisture, pressure and storage conditions.
