In India, National Fire Service Day is observed annually on April 14th, and Fire Service Week runs from April 14th to 20th, commemorating the brave firefighters who lost their lives during the 1944 Bombay dock explosion.

Observed on April 14th, this day honors the firefighters who perished during the tragic Bombay dock explosion of 1944, where a ship carrying explosives caught fire, causing widespread devastation. 

Fire Service Week:

The week following National Fire Service Day, from April 14th to 20th, is observed as Fire Service Week. 

Purpose of the Observances:

Pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of firefighters. 

Raise awareness about fire safety and prevention. 

Promote a fire-safe environment in homes, workplaces, and public spaces.

History of the Observance

The 14th of April was chosen to commemorate the memory of firemen who died in the Dock explosion in Mumbai on April 14, 1944. 

Every year 14th April is observed as Fire Services Day and the following week as the Fire Service Week. This year Fire service week is being observed from 14th April 2025 to 20th April 2025 throughout the country for all concerned in order to minimize the losses owing to Fire. 14th April is observed as “Fire Service Day” to pay homage to those brave fire fighters who sacrifice their lives while discharging their duties in a dock explosion at Mumbai on 14th April 1944.

To commemorate this occasion, we are organizing the Fire Services Day in plant from 14th to 20th April, 2025.
