Project The Kakinada plant is one of the world's largest green ammonia projects

AM Green is a company that is developing a green ammonia plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India, as part of the Greenko Group:

Background

AM Green was founded by Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli, the founders of the Greenko Group. AM Green aims to be a leading producer of green ammonia, green hydrogen, and other green molecules.

Project

The Kakinada plant is one of the world's largest green ammonia projects. It will produce one million tons of green ammonia per year by 2026, and five million tons per year by 2030. The majority of the production will be exported to Europe.

Partners

AM Green has partnered with John Cockerill to provide advanced pressurized alkaline electrolyzers. AM Green has also secured a 25-year fixed-price power purchase agreement with NTPC for half of the electricity required for the project.

Benefits

The project will help India and Europe achieve their net-zero targets. It will also help decarbonize industries such as shipping, refining, fertilizers, and power generation.

Certification

The Kakinada facility has been certified by CertifHy as compliant with EU RFNBO requirements for green ammonia.
