 Safety Check Points During Inspection of Bar Bending Machine




1. Machine Condition


Machine body should be free from cracks, damage, and rust.


All covers, guards, and protective shields must be properly fixed.


Ensure machine is stable, level, and placed on a firm foundation.


2. Electrical Safety


Power cable should be in good condition without cuts or joints.


Proper earthing/grounding must be provided.


Plug, socket, and MCB (circuit breaker) should be intact and of correct rating.


No loose or exposed live wires should be present.


3. Emergency Controls


Emergency stop button must be functional, easily accessible, and tested.


Foot pedal/operating switch should be working properly and without damage.


4. Machine Guards & Moving Parts


Rotating parts (gear, pulley, bending plate) must have guards in place.


No loose objects should be kept on the machine table.


Ensure no leakage of oil/grease near moving parts.


5. Operational Safety


Machine should only be operated by a trained and authorized operator.


Operator must follow the load capacity – do not bend bars beyond machine capacity.


Bar must be properly clamped before bending.


Hands and body parts should be kept away from the bending area during operation.


6. Work Area Safety


Work area should be clean, dry, and free from scrap materials.


Adequate lighting and ventilation should be available.


No obstruction in operator’s movement path.


7. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)


Operator and helper must wear:


Safety helmet


Safety shoes


Safety gloves (cut-resistant)


Safety goggles


Reflective vest


8. Maintenance & Housekeeping


Daily pre-use inspection checklist should be filled by the operator.


Lubrication and servicing must be done as per manufacturer’s guidelines.


Machine should be switched off and isolated during maintenance.


9. Training & Documentation


Machine operator must be trained and competent.


SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and safety instructions must be displayed near the machine.


Records of inspection and maintenance must be available.


10. Fire & First Aid Preparedness


Fire extinguisher should be nearby and accessible.


First aid box should be available at site.
