The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of India has a program called Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE). LiFE is a global mass movement that aims to encourage individuals and communities to protect the environment. The program's goal is to reduce the impact of climate change by influencing individual behavior.
LiFE recognizes that Indian culture and living traditions are sustainable. The program has seven themes and a list of 75 actions to help people live in a way that is in tune with the Earth:
Save water
Save energy
Reduce waste
Reduce e-waste
Reduce single-use plastics
Adopt sustainable food systems
Adopt healthy lifestyles
Here are some examples of actions that people can take to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle:
Use cloth bags instead of plastic bags
Walk or cycle instead of driving for short distances
Use public transportation
Use LED bulbs or tube-lights
Turn off appliances when not in use
Reuse water for cleaning and watering plants
Plant trees in your community
Support environmental causes, sustainable businesses, and vote
