Percarbamide is a white crystalline solid compound made of hydrogen peroxide and urea. It's also known as carbamide peroxide, urea hydrogen peroxide, or urea peroxide.
Uses
Bleaching, disinfection, and oxidation: Percarbamide is dissolved in water to create a source of hydrogen peroxide for bleaching, disinfection, and oxidation.
Teeth whitening: In dentistry, percarbamide is used as a whitening agent.
Properties
Percarbamide is water-soluble.
Percarbamide is more stable and easier to control than liquid hydrogen peroxide.
Percarbamide releases about 50% of its whitening agent in the first two hours and remains active for up to six additional hours.
