There are several types of algae in water, including red algae, green algae, brown algae, and yellow-green algae.

Red algae (\(Rhodophyta\)) These algae are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and calcium and magnesium. They are mainly found in tropical oceans, attached to solid surfaces like reefs or other algae.

Brown algae (\(Phaeophyceae\)) These algae are multicellular and can range in size from a few centimeters to over 100 meters. They are mainly marine and get their brown color from a carotenoid pigment.

Green algae (\(Chlorophyta\)) These algae are found in fresh water and the ocean, and are mostly microscopic. They are a food source and shelter for many aquatic animals, and have antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Yellow-green algae (\(Xanthophyta\)) These algae are unicellular and have cell walls made from silica and cellulose. They have one or two flagella for movement.

Blue-green algae (\(Cyanobacteria\)) These algae are actually bacteria that look similar to algae. They can form massive surface blooms when there is too much nutrient content in the water.
