This poster is a Pre-Use Inspection Checklist for a Welding Machine. The main message is simple:

SAFETY STARTS BEFORE WELDING - a quick check today prevents a serious incident tomorrow.

It's designed for a Toolbox Talk or pre-shift check. The center image shows you must CHECK THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE of the machine, and it labels the 4 critical parts to look at:

Control panel & settings: must be readable and working

Cooling vents: must not be blocked

Electrode holder and cable: where the current goes to the rod

Ground clamp and cable: completes the circuit and prevents shock

Around it are 7 inspection areas. You should check all of them before you strike an arc:

1. General Condition

Machine is clean, dry and free from damage

No loose parts or missing covers

Control panel and labels are legible so you don't make a wrong setting

Proper grounding point is available and intact - this is your main protection against electric shock

2. Power Supply & Cables

Voltage is correct for the machine rating

Cables are not frayed, cut or damaged - damaged cables = shock and fire risk

Plugs, sockets and connections are tight and secure

Extension leads, if used, are in good condition and rated for the load

3. Electrode Holder & Ground Clamp

Insulation is not cracked or damaged

Clamping jaws are clean and tight

Cables are flexible and in good condition

Clamp makes good contact with the workpiece - poor contact causes overheating and weak welds

4. Cooling System

Cooling fan works properly, no unusual noise

Air vents are clear and not blocked

Coolant level for water-cooled machines is correct

No leaks from hoses or fittings - overheating will trip the machine or cause fire

5. Welding Accessories

Electrode rods are dry and properly stored - damp rods cause porosity and spatter

Welding helmet, gloves and PPE are in good condition

Fire extinguisher is available nearby

Work area is clean, dry and free from combustibles

6. Safety Features

Overload and thermal protection are functional

Voltage and current controls work correctly

Emergency stop, if fitted, works properly

No abnormal smell, heat or electrical faults

7. Final Check

Machine is properly earthed

Cables are routed safely, away from traffic and hot surfaces

Work area is barricaded if needed

Operator is trained and authorized to use the machine

Bottom Strip - The 5 Golden Rules

INSPECT BEFORE YOU WELD!

WEAR YOUR PPE

KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMMABLES

ENSURE PROPER EARTHING

CHECK YOUR MACHINE

WORK SAFE STAY SAFE

Final slogan: RIGHT INSPECTION = SAFE WELDING = ZERO INCIDENTS

In practice, if any item fails this check, tag the machine Do Not Use and report it. Don't try to manage a faulty welder. You can use this poster as a daily checklist that every welder signs off before starting work. 🚨⛑️🚥🏗️🌡️⚠️🚦🦺🗼🚧
