Shri Narendra Bhushan assumes charge as Secretary, Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change

Shri Narendra Bhushan, a 1992 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

Mr. Bhushan has over three decades of administrative experience in the central and state governments. He has extensive experience in the areas of energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, urban development, finance, and land resource management. His appointment as Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change follows his tenure as Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development.

Career Details

During his service in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Mr. Bhushan held several senior positions, including Additional Chief Secretary in the Departments of Energy and Additional Energy Sources and Technical Education. Prior to this, he served as Principal Secretary in the PWD, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, IT and Electronics, Science and Technology, and Panchayati Raj departments. He also held other important positions, including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Greater Noida Authority. Mr. Bhushan also has extensive field experience; he has served as District Magistrate of Mathura, Firozabad, and Udham Singh Nagar.

 

At the Government of India level, Mr. Bhushan has served as Deputy Director General at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Mission Director at the National Food Security Administration, and Joint Secretary at the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation. He has also served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Bhushan holds a bachelor's degree in electronics and a master's degree in international development policy from Duke University in the United States. His professional training includes programs in public finance, infrastructure, and climate-change preparedness.
